Case Studies

Hear from our DTC students:

Sarah-Beth Amos

Sarah-Beth Amos

Sarah-Beth is a BBSRC iCASE student in collaboration with the pharmaceutical company UCB, with Prof Mark Sansom. She works on developing Markov State model analysis of disorder in protein-membrane interactions.

Mathilde Guillaumin

Mathilde Guillaumin

Mathilde is working on the regulation of sleep and the impact of a specific mutation on sleep and learning.

Her project involves behaviour testing and in vivo sleep recordings (electroencephalography and neuronal signals) in mice with or without a mutation that affects neurotransmitter release. She is also working on developing a mathematical model of sleep regulation. Both aspects of her DPhil aim to help disentangle the role of the circadian clock and homeostatic regulation on the alternation between sleep and wake states.

Mirjam Hazenbosch

Mirjam's field work is based in Papua New Guinea, investigating how smallholder farming can be made more sustainable.

JJ

Jisoo Jean

JJ's current work focuses on developing a modular platform for enzyme cyclization to confer drastic improvements in thermal resilience to a wide range of enzymes.

katerinajohnson

Katerina Johnson

Katerina's research is interdisciplinary in nature and spans the fields of neuroscience, behaviour, molecular biology, microbiology, metagenomics and evolution.

Pablo Munoz Rodriguez

Pablo Munoz-Rodriguez

Pablo's research focused on the systematics of the sweet potato and closely related wild species.

Thomas Pak

Thomas Pak

Thomas is a mathematical biologist, his research involves modelling the processes of cell competition in multicellular organisms.

shengpong

Sheng Pong

Sheng researches the role of tRNA-derived fragments (tRFs) in gene regulation in Dr Monika Gullerova’s laboratory for his DPhil project.

Shamma Rattan

Shamma Rattan

Shamma is an Oxford Brookes student, researching the function and evolution of the Wnt signalling ligands in Drosophila melanogaster.

James Walker

James Walker

James is working with the Animal Flight group working on visual guidance in birds.
