How to apply

We have now filled all available places on the DTP for 2019 entry. We still have limited iCASE and Pirbright studentships available - please contact dtpenquiries@dtc.ox.ac.uk if you would like more information on these.

Application Eligibility

Application information and selection criteria can be found on the central University pages here.

Application Procedure

For all candidates – Overseas, Self-funded and Studentship (UK/EU)

Before submitting a full application for a position on the programme, all candidates are required to send a copy of their most recent CV via e-mail to the Programme Administrator at: dtpenquiries@biodtp.ox.ac.uk to assess your suitability for the course. If advised to submit an application, all applicants are required to follow the relevant University’s guidelines regarding the admissions process. Please note that applicants for BBSRC iCASE studentships should contact the academic supervisor, or the main contact listed in the project details for the specific project they wish to be considered for, to determine whether they are encouraged to apply before submitting an application.

Applications will be assessed by the University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University once they have been submitted.

Specific scholarships are awarded competitively to Home/EU students who are planning to undertake research projects involving DTP partner organisations (The Pirbright Institute, Diamond Light Source, ISIS Neutron and Muon Source). Please indicate when applying if you wish to be considered for one of these scholarships.

The fastest, most efficient and preferred method of application to the University of Oxford is via the secure online application form.  Paper applications are only acceptable in exceptional circumstances where it is not possible for you to apply online. If you do have an exceptional need to use a paper form, please contact Graduate Admissions and Funding.

Details of how to apply to the DTP via Oxford Brookes University are available here.

Four-year studentships are available funded by the BBSRC, University of Oxford, DTP partner organisations, non-academic partner organisations and various Charitable Trusts. Restrictions on eligibility set by individual funding bodies will apply.

Overseas Applicants

Please be aware that overseas applicants are not eligible for BBSRC studentships. The deadline to apply for most University scholarships has now passed. Please see the Fees, funding and scholarship search for details.
